Inca Shearing, one of the notable systems developed at Pacomarca, is a method of shearing alpacas with the object of obtaining an improved fibre yield at sorting.  The method has been tested, both technically and economically, and has shown very positive results on both counts.

This new alpaca-shearing technique benefits the textile industry, enabling it to obtain higher yields of fine fibre per fleece, while at the same time it benefits the producer in allowing him to obtain better prices when selling his fibre.

Explanations of Inca Shearing are given either during visits made by herdsmen to the ranch or at demonstrations carried out within the communites themselves by personnel from Inca Tops.  Alpaca producers who agree to use the new technique and who, later on, sell their fibre to Inca Tops SAA obtain not only the best price in the market but also a bond which can be redeemed for any of the products or services offered by Pacomarca: stud animals; crosses with the studs; mothers; pregnant mothers; training courses, or animal feed.
